I did a search for "BDRI custom modifications" and "Blues Deluxe Reissue custom modifications" but did not return any threads/posts that seem to treat upon the topic. That kind of surprises me. Maybe it's just a shortcoming of the board search engine.

Anyway, I'm just curious about what kinds of custom mods BDRI owners have made; the reasons for the mods, and the results--good and bad.

Specifically, what kinds of results have you had in swapping out the stock tubes for other sets?

Do a search on BDRI and my name. I have posted a lot about different tubes, speakers, and proper biasing of the BDRI. There are many posts by others in the forum also. If you have specific questions about BDRI mods, ask.

this has been covered to death.

Search "Blues Deluxe mods" or "BDRI mods" and you'll get a lot more hits.

Thanks! Will do.

ETA: I've been very tempted lately to splurge for a 3 Monkeys Grease Monkey II. But at ~$2500, I think I'd rather play around with my BDRI and see what kinds of tone I can get out of it, at least for the time being.

The 3 Monkeys amp is all EL84, so will sound nothing like your 6L6 Fender.

If you're looking for EL84 to pair with your Fender, there are plenty of other brands that won't kill the band as badly - Dr. Z is one that does EL84 as well as fun things like a 6V6-based Plexi. And they're built like a tank.
