I recently purchased a new Fender Frontman 25R amp. I needed a practice amp that was portable and with decent power. Oh yeah, and cheap too. The amp is a little screamer, not too bad for $140.
My question is this. Why did Fender discontinue putting two 1/4 inch input jacks on its amps? This amp has a single 1/4 inch jack. If I remember correctly, one was for high gain, the 2nd for lower gain inputs. When I plug in guitars with hot pickups(DiMarzio, Duncan, EMG) in the clean channel, I get a distorted sound(not wanted) unless I lower the volume knob on the guitar. When I back off on the input volume, it cleans up. Do the hot pups overload the preamp circuits, or do I have a similar problem to other owners of this amp??
I do not get the distortion when I play thru my Marshall or Peavey amps on their clean channels. Has anyone else had this trouble??
I also want to replace the 10'' speaker. Anybody get good results with Emminence, Jensen or Celestion?? Thanxs!!

I suppose the single input jack is a cost-saving item. Or Fender did some research and found out that multiple jacks just confused people!

The Eminence Ragin Cajun is a great upgrade. It's louder than the stock speaker, has better bass, and sounds better across the board.
