Hi all, I have a 2010 stock BJr with original tubes and a peculiar issue. I was playing my strat along with some music and noticed the tubes went microphonic in positions 1,3 and 5 but not in positions 2 and 4. This happened only once and hasn't reoccured since. Was this just a fluke? Any ideas? Thanks. :) Larry

What?

Please explain what you mean about going microphonic, and how did you determine which tubes, or even that it was the tubes. Once tubes are microphonic, they do not heal themselves.

Hi Shimmilou. My apology if I was vague. I assumed it was the tubes, unaware it could be anything else. By microphonic I meant I could hear the music I was playing along with through the amps speaker in positions 1,3 and 5 but not in positions 2 or 4.

Ah!

You were hearing the sound of your stereo from the amp, but only with the guitar pup selector in positions 1, 3, 5. Positions 2 and 4 of the guitar are noise canceling. The sound that you hear is being picked up by the guitar, I've heard that sound too. Just move the guitar away from the stereo for less of this sound.

It's the guitar picking up the sound, nothing to do with the amp or tubes.

Thanks for the advice. It seems so obvious now.
