What sort of support were you expecting? Three of your four other posts were nothing but quotes from a questionable amp tech and the kit sellers website. You didn't ask us any questions and we had to ask you several times why you found it necessary to make all those mods. If you had come here first and wanted to know how to improve the volume control on your amp and get some better tones out of it, we would have been happy to provide the information. Instead, you spent a lot of money and came here complaining about weak circuit boards. I hope the money you spent on all the mods proved worth it to you.

People around here are encouraged not to feed the trolls...

Your postings and lack of responses to questions puts that label on you. If it doesn't suit you, answer some of the questions posed in the 3 pages. Otherwise stay under your bridge.

I agree with Bill. What strikes me funny is did you like the amp when you first bought it, or did you just buy an amp that you didn't like just to try and make it something it isn't?
The other problem with these amps is when you start modding them usually all kinds of other problems start. The smarter thing to do is buy an amp that sounds great right out of the box. I bought a HRDlx because I bought it on a whim and didn't really spend enough time with it. I've been playing long enough to know better. The Twin I had before the HRDlx lasted for over 30 years of hard gigging. I trusted the Fender name. It was after the first rehearsal that I found its limitations. I sold it with some warranty left to appease the amp gods.

Power Stiffening - Doubles the capacitance in the first filter stage, this reduces hum and increases reserve power for solid bass and better transience for incisive picking, This mod gives the amp the extra torque it needs to push through strong when you are playing hard. This also takes some stress off the output transformer increasing its life span.

wander02, sorry to seem to be jumping on the bandwagon to diss your (or some tech's) suggestions... but this one is an archaic point. I would not mess with the mfd values of any amp that has tubes in the front end and power section. Because this effects the time-constant of the power supply. And that effects the transient response of the amp. Yes, you may get better bass... but at the cost of slow mid and high frequency response.

With solid-state amps this time-constant thing is not as big an issue. As transistors and chips and very fast reacting. Unlike tubes. It's biasing and offset adjusting the power section of ss amps that is the problem (best left for a knowledgeable tech).

Today's caps are good enough at the OEM values. Just a get a pair of good 100mfd/350VDC caps for that first stage. And you can go to matched 220K-ohm resistors for the load dividers. Use UF4006 Fairchild diodes and a good quality non-polar 0.1mfd/1K VDC cap (C51) to reduce hash, if that is the issue.
