You can buy better sounding used amps for the price of a new Frontman.

Let me know what amp I should look for in the $80 range (shipped) that would be better than the 25R for a practice amp.

I didn't realize GC had the RC in stock. My 25R arrived yesterday. I'll have to go through a thorough tightening too.

I got a 25r lest than a week ago and have been enjoying it with my MIM telecaster thinline (although an extended power outage from last week's storm has limited my practice time :) ). This is just a hobby for me, so it is plenty powerful for use at home. I'm out in the country with no close neighbors, so I can turn it up high when I like.

I have been interested to read about all the people who have swapped the speaker on these amps. I still don't know the amp well enough myself to want make any modifications. But this one seems straightforward enough. Would I notice any difference when practicing in a small room at home?

Guitar Center lists the speaker on their site here, but it's not stocked at any of the stores in my area: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Eminence-Pa ... 1153609.gc

Be sure you don't over-tighten the speaker to the baffle.

I have it as well, and think it's agreat amp with the proper speaker. Swapped, of course, with Ragin Cajun, and now, with Bass and High on minimum, using just Mids to get a sound, it sounds really great. Especially on clean channel, it really sounds as a Fender!
I have the first model with black metal protection on front... Overdrive channel does not make me happy at all...
Bought for other great tones the new Super Champ X2, but that's another story. Still use the Orange Micro Terror with the original Fender speaker, which lives now in a DIY "cage", or use it as well for Frontman 25R, on Speaker Out, when need thinner sounds, that Ragin Cajun can't offer. Glad it has the headphones jack, that SCX2 is not provided with.
Frontman sounds great with pedals in front, I would definetly give it an 8 for clean channel with the new speaker. Have FUN!

I did the Ragin Cajun swap out too. Play it every Sunday in church. Very tube like, IMO.

Frontman 25R gives you an all analog circuit and a real spring reverb and 10" speaker which you can easily upgrade. If you can't have fun with it there's something wrong with you.

I agree 100%. However I can't have any fun with it tonight since I left it at church  .

I'll have to bring her home tomorrow. Looking forward to bringing her to turkey day festivities. My bro got a Mustang I. It's ok but a lot can be said for a nice simple analog circuit. Think I might make him jealous.

I bought one a week ago from AMS along with the Eminence Rajun Cajun 10" Speaker as well. It was $170.00 well spent. The Eminence definately brings out the true potential of this amp, whereas the stock speaker that Fender puts in it, is more suited for something that you would buy at Radio Shack IMO. Why doesn't Fender listen to their customers and make this speaker a part of this amp ? Even if they have to jack the price, I guarantee it'll be a hot seller with the Rajun Cajun in it.

I imagine if they did that it would probably cut into sales of other amps. Fender is no dummy when it comes to marketing for sure. Heck, I know their marketing department has worked for me to buy all the amps and guitars I have for many years now. (I'm sure many more to come too.)

My guess is it has to do with marketing. They've got the Mustang for the high tech crowd and the Super Champ X2 and Pawn Shop amps for the tube people. They probably figure if they keep the price of the Frontman around $100 it will end up being a lot of beginning players' first amp. And trying to convince people that transistors are better than tubes for many purposes is a losing battle.

I tend to agree with this as I think it's best to put this amp in the hands of as many players as possible, and if Fender cedes the ~$100 market those players will probably end up with Line 6, Acoustic, Crate, or any other number of other contenders.

What's cool is that I think word is getting out on how great these amps can be and the aftermarket speaker industry is catching on.

Sold with Eminence inside, would cost much more, and I wonder if it would be interesting, with this tiny Overdrive...
Concerning Superchamp... I bought a SCX2 as well, very pleased with sound, but I intend to amplify it through Frontman (and RJ), if possible, to make use of the highest power of it... So, every amp has it's own market, and it's own lacks of... whatever... Fender rules!
