I picked up a new 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue the other day. When playing above the 9th Fret on the low E and A strings I get a distinct buzzing sound from the speaker. Not sure what it cound be. Doesn't seem to be anything vibrating inside the cabinet or loose speaker screws. This is kind of frustrating because when I bought the DRRI, I had returned a Blues Junior NOS which was overheating that I bought the week before.

The only thing I have left to check is to play in another room and hope it's a resonance issue. The last thing I want to do is take another ride back to Guitar Center at this point.

Thanks for your help.

That's a pesky problem that often occurs when playing loud in the home. Virtually anything in your house not secured fastened can vibrate, which may be misinterpreted as some defect with the amp and/or speaker. Try moving to different rooms and see if the offending noise disappears or changes in any way.

Or perhaps tube rattle? Very annoying. Not necessarily endorsing this product nor supplier, but just giving you one possibility: http://www.eurotubes.com/eurotubes-Euro ... -Rings.htm

+1

I am constantly fighting rattles and vibrations in my studio when I crank my 5F6A clone or BDRI. I have one note on my guitar that causes the lid on my printer to vibrate like crazy. I've never been able to figure out a fix.

I use them in all my tube amps. They are good for preventing minor rattles, but if the tube is seriously microphonic, I just replace it.

Try some strips of that self-adhesed mole-skin, Bill.

I've thought about that but I don't like hunting and killing those little sticky moles. Now the big furry ones ...

Seriously, that might work. I've tried felt but that didn't help. Right now I have three plush dolls sitting on top of the lid which seems to work somewhat. It just looks strange.

Just to be sure, this isn't a guitar issue? It doesn't buzz using another amp, correct?
