Well, I've hit a brick wall here with my previously-trusty old Pro Jr. Couple months ago, I started noticing the volume dropping slightly while playing. I should preface by saying I use my Pro Jr. weekly for a blues open jam I'm in the house band for. The gig is in a small club, and the amp has enough power for this setting, but yeah, basically this thing gets pushed pretty hard on a regular basis, and this is when I first started noticing the volume-loss issue. I figured it was just the output tubes, so I flipped them for some new Ruby EL84s and didn't notice any issues the next time I used the amp out, and the next couple times I played it at home, so I came to the conclusion that was the problem. Fast forward to today. I was actually planning on using my Pro Jr. as part of a trade for a more powerful amp, so I plugged it in and put it through its paces to make sure everything worked. Son of a gun, 5 minutes into playing this thing with the volume at only 4, the volume starts cutting out. Then the sound gets all farty briefly, then the volume spikes back up again. I flipped the output tubes for a known good set of JJs, same exact thing. Rolled a bunch of different preamp tubes just to rule that out. No dice. All the tubes are glowing beautifully, but the volume keeps cutting out, the tone gets all nasty, and the volume control seems really spikey. So... this is definitely beyond my realm of expertise, but I'd still like to get some ideas of what I could be looking at here before i just hand it over to a tech. Mostly right now I'm just pissed because this little thing decided to act up right when I decided to sell it. Oh well. Anyone have any ideas here? Output transformer starting to go out?

You have probably an issue with solder joints, as far as you have no background with electronics I suggest to contact a repair center with a real knowledge on valves amp design.
