its a great amp if u can find a good one.

+1

A "good one" will be no newer than a '97 or a '98, with a "LO" prefixed serial number. QC/QA was parsecs better back then and RoHS-compliant solder hadn't yet been mandated for all FMIC products.

Hey guys thanks for all of your comments thus far. When I got back home last week I wanted to try all of your suggestions. The first comment I took into consideration was Hou-Tex's comment that I might be pixel peeping or just looking for a reason to trash Fender. I thought for a while was I being to critical but when I turned the amp volume up to 4 the buzzing or rattle sound became much worse. I then tried to tighten any loose screws but the buzzing persisted. I was going to tighten the speaker nuts, but based on Arjays comment I decided not to make this adjustment but the speaker did seem nice and tight. I then checked for microphonic pre amp tubes but nothing seemed to be wrong there. After checking for the sound with my ear close to the front of the amp the sound seems to be coming from the front of the amp right near where it says Deluxe Reverb Amp. I then sat on the amp where I heard the sound coming from and the amp no longer buzzed. Tightened the chassis screws and the jewel lamp but it still buzzes very bad. Fender has suggested I Fedex it to a repair shop and they have been very good in responding to my e-mails and working with me to resolve the problem. It seems like a simple problem but off to the shop it goes. I'll let you know what they find.

Wow! And who pays for the shipping?
Why not have the Fender Dealer ship it for you?

Serious, Cliff Lee ~
What amp needs to be checked every two years and for what reason(s)?

And with all of the money you are taking from the Philadelphia Phillies,
you oughta be able to buy a few amp/guitar stores, anyway

I have my amps on scheduled maintenance cycles as well, Cliff. Yearly for rectifiers, power tubes, and idle bias; tri-annually for pre-amp glass; and the five-year mark for electrolytic caps, high-voltage resistors, solder joints, and chassis hardware.

Let the wannabees and the dilettantes pound sand.

Cool. My good mates are $40-$100.
But, just wondering if there was an need, kinda like changing the car oil
every 6,000 miles or getting a termite inspection every year
or making sure all parts function before you go out on a "Hot Date"

I see, some good reasons for checkups. Thanks.

Writting of "pounding hand", rg, you forgot to add your weekly doctor checkup
for removing your pud calluses

Let the fat old wannabee get weekly checkups
Let his guitar get penicillin spray and
US Certified Health Warnings on all items touched by rg

"Hey, JimiH, what happened to rg???" "Gee, EricC, rg's been 'Pounding Sand'
after messing with his pud calluses    "

Professional musicians concerned about their stage rep when stepping in front of a live audience care about how their gear performs.

Amateur dick-diddlers hawking "stupid/rare dumble clones" on Ebay to pay the rent need not worry.

I see nothing wrong w/maintaining your tube amps. It'a pre requisite to owning one really. If you neglect them, you'll regret it at some point.

+1, seems pretty intuitive..

If you take care of it, it'll take care of you.

Yup...makes sense to at least check bias on the tubes if your amp is so enabled.
A look-see at any components turning brown or etch discoloration.

Takes only an hour. If that. 8)
