Thanks guys after a few days I noticed that the amp was not working properly so I took it back and eventually got another one. The second one is better but it buzzes like crazy when playing a low B or C note. I have since tried several amps in the store and all of the DRRI's buzz when playing low notes. Does anybody know what this is.

What do you mean by "Buzz"? Feedback?

DB. Are these reissues PCBoard based?
Buzzing might be vibration problems.
Maybe that store got what is part of a large bad batch.
If you cannot get that buzzing fixed, will you still keep the amp?
Or get another amp that does not have "across the board" consistent problems?

I may be stuck with this amp because I may be over the 30 days that GC allows for returns. I'll get it fixed under the warranty but I'll always be wondering what will go wrong next. Judgeing by this web site there are a lot of things that can and will go wrong. The DRRI is a good sounding amp that is now built poorly. It may not be as poorly designed as the Hot Rod series but the DRRI is starting to become just as troublesome. Although I may be stuck with this amp I do know that this is the last product I will be buying from Fender. I just hope I can turn this lemon to lemonade

I have been playing my DDRI for 3 months now and it is the best amp I have ever played. I'll ask again about the noise. Is it feedback from the guitar, or is it something else? Have you tried another guitar through the amp? Have you checked your cables?

Statistically speaking, the odds of you getting TWO bad DRRI's in a row, could be something to wonder about.

The DRRI is a PC board based product but unlike the Hot Rod series the tubes are not mounted on the PC board, instead they are monted on the chassis like they should be. I have tried this amp at Guitar Center in Orange CT and at Sam Ash in Raleigh NC and at my home all with different guitars but yet the same problem. It's simple on the amp turn the volume to at least 3 or 4 and turn the bass nob to approximately 5 then play a B on the sixth string. I wonder if the new cage they placed around the power tubes has anything to do with it?

The sound is a buzzing sound when you play a low note. Think of a sound like zzzzzzz when you play a B or C note on the 6th string. I am hoping that I can get this fixed and then have atrouble free amp like you. When working the DRRI is a great sounding amp and that is why I got another one after having a prolem with the first one, but there is no denying the fact that quality control is slipping fast at Fender.

A distinct possibility, I'm afraid.

Lawyers are litigating American industry into oblivion.

In photography it's called "Pixel Peeping" when we get too anal and try to find thing wrong that we can.

Turn the knobs and enjoy.

I doubt QC is the problem. My guess is your goal is trashing Fender for whatever reason your intention is.

When playing a B or C note on your guitar and you get a "Buzz" or whatever your complaint is, it's not your amp. It's your guitar. Change your strings, check your intonation, string height and Pup to string distance. Your problem is not your amp.

I'm not pixel peeping or looking for something wrong, this problem will introduce it self to you loud and clear. Yes I can turn the base knob all the way off or play the song in another key but I don't think that is how an amp is supposed to work. This amp was sounding fantastic until I played a song in the key of B a few days later. It was only then that I tried a few different ones just to see if my amp was the only one. When I get home tomorrow I am going to tighten all the screws and the speaker nuts and hope that solves the problem.

Easy on those speaker nuts......snug them only to 20 inch/pounds (about a quarter turn beyond finger-tight).

Best of luck, HTH

Could this buzzing sound you're describing be tube rattle? The most common problem with newer DRRIs is that cheap Ruby Rectifier tube, it's the first one on the left when looking at the back of the amp. Take a look back there and see what tube you have. It could also be another tube... do the pencil eraser test. It's an easy fix, if that's what it is.

Good luck!

Ouch. Too bad you got a bad taste of Fender or Fender service.
Obviously, it is a big company. There are many levels of amps.
Your's is what I consider a mid-level and the problem(s) should be taken care of, for life!
Lot's of guitarist really like the DRRI.
By your answer, I am assumming you bought a used amp from GC that was
offered with a limited GC warranty. Or, GC would swap it for thirty days
and then Fender took over for five years. Maybe in time things will be more cheery :)
