I just purchased one … so far it’s a love hate relationship…… one minute I love the sound and the next time I play it I wonder why I got it…..I have seen really bad comments about it here but not sure if these are actual comments from experience or just opinions based on what people think about it in general and have not actually played through one....

Your best bet is to return it and buy something you'll be thrilled
about, at 2 grand you should be extatic and your obviously
not.
You have way too much doubt about the amp.

+1

Regardless of what's opined here on this forum (or any other for that matter), it's you that must be pleased. If the amp is not "doing it" for you, return it for something else that you feel more comfortable with. Sour grapes aren't worth $2000.

Thanks guys,
But after a week of playing through it and adding a little reverb I can say i love this amp. It has such an awesome tone. It had a bit on tube rattle when I first got it and this also added to the love hate thing but I’ve since sorted that out. It really sounds great with my SRV Strat and I think they both go together really well. My other Strats sound good too but the Stevie really has that crazy clean bottle type tubbier sound...

Hi Guys, Actually joined the forum a while ago but this is the first time I'm posting anything. I just had to say that after picking up the EC Tremolux last week I finally took it out to play it in a live situation. It was a local jam that can tend to get a bit loud. I needed to know whether it would cut it volume and sound wise. I must say that I was thrilled with the amps performance. It blew me away how good it sounded and it still could give more. Never went past 4 on the volume. Yeah sure it could use a bit more headroom but at that volume it was still clean with some hair on it. Up until now I have been playing it in my basement. In that placement it's very dry sounding, but still warm and sweet. I worried that I might need some reverb when out on a stage but that wasn't an issue at all. The thing just sang. Of course it also helped that I used a Clapton strat with it. All I have to add is that after watching and listening to every Youtube video of the amp (and there are some pretty crappy ones...including Fender's demo ones) the amp exceeded my expectations.

If you want more headroom, replace V1 with a good NOS 12AY7 like the originals used, not the 12AX7 that Fender sticks in them.

I love the Tremolux more and more each day :) :) :D :) :)
