Just brought home a brand new EC Tremolux last night and it rattles really bad. Not a happy feeling!!! It comes mostly from the tube closest to the left if you’re sitting in front of the amp, but they all seem to have some sort of rattle. Apparently it will be a few months before I could get another new one. Any suggestions on this???. I really feel sick to my stomach every time I plug it in and hear this... Do the tube dampening O-rings really work……..please help!!!!

Another few months until you can get a new amp or a new tube?

If all it is is a bad tube (on the left facing the front would be on the right when facing the back which would be the first 12AX7 preamp tube), replacements are readily available over the Internet. The tubes are easy to replace. You could just try swapping that tube with the one next to it to see of the rattle moves with it. Tap the tube lightly with the eraser end of a pencil to see if it rattles more. If so, replace it.

few months for a replacement "New" amp ... ,

Thanks
I am new to the tube amp thing, I had my heart set on a Victoria Regal II but had no way of hearing one so I when to this since it was local. Just bought it last night but now I see everyone just dogs this amp…. I just hope Im not the poor sucker that knew nothing about tube amps and just screwed up by getting this. I have nice guitars, CS 60’ Closet Classic Relic, SRV, and 50th Anniversary with 54’ CF pus… I was playing through a Mustang III until last night but now I’m kind of bummed… maybe I should have gotten the Vic. I use a Gretsch Executive by Victoria when I use my hollowboddy Gretschs...
no tube rattle on that one....

Wow, new to the tube amp thing.
I'm impressed with your impeccable taste.
Can you replicate the tube rattle? If you can, sit behind your
Amp, with your tubes exposed and pinpoint where the rattle
is coming from as Bluesky suggested.
My drri has a little tube rattle, but I zeroed in on the 6v6 tube.
The replacement is on the way.
Good luck

Thanks, it’s the first 12XA7 tube to the right when looking at the back. if I remove the cage thingy around the tube and just tapped it a little it goes away but then comes right back. I just picked this up last night but so far everyone on here has really dogged this amp. I’m starting to think I made a bad choice; maybe I should have got the Victoria Regal II that I was interested in at first …. I’m really confused :? and this was not cheap

Sorry, I didn’t mean in this post but in other posts on here others have nothing good to say about the EC Tremolux, this is my first tube amp since my S-LX from 15yrs ago and I’m just surprised at all the negative comments i saw about the amp after i bought it.... guess i should have looked first. I thought I was getting a first class amp... I hope I did....

I wouldn't worry about other opinions unless your unhappy
with the tone.

I do like the tone :D ... Im sure most with the negative comments have not even heard one or just wish they had one. most where dissing the EC name

Wow, just talked to Fender and they are sending me 3 new tubes... no questions asked, no serial number (didn’t have it as I’m at work) just asked for my address and boom they’re on the way… that’s pretty good customer support… lets hope this works...

A tube failure with a new amp, can and does happen with any model, regardless of the cost of the amp or it's "boutique" status. It's more a reflection of the tubes and/or rough shipping, rather than the amp causing it. The amp didn't cause the tube to fail, but the tubes are covered by warranty for a short time. You should be able to get a new tube sent to you as normal procedure with many manufacturers, and cool that you are getting new ones, and yes, Fender has great customer support. Keep in mind that many of the "poo-pooers" haven't even seen the amp, or tried one, so forget about what everyone else speculates. Enjoy!

There is a lot of jealousy out there, I love Eric Clapton
Tone, and that will get you there. But I give credit to
Cedarblues a forumite planted a seed in my brain on
Robert cray's clean tone, and has become one of my favorite
tones next to Mayer's and Clapton.
Good luck with your bichin amp.

Thanks everyone... one more thing!!! Should the tremolo effect still make an up and down whooshing sound depending on the speed sensitivity on high end “boutique” type amps.... remember this is my first real tube amp  … so be nice 8)

All analog amps generate some intrinsic, internal noise -- it's part and parcel of the amplification process and it's categorized as the "signal-to-noise ratio". The tremolo effect accentuates this noise since it is modulating the amplitude of the signal as it passes through the amp's stages, whether or not you're strumming a chord with your guitar or not. Thus, your ear perceives the volume swell containing the ambient signal noise as being louder and more pronounced. This phenomenon can occur regardless of which tremolo system the amp uses -- either bias modulation, multi-tube harmonic, or photo-electric. Quieter (premium) tubes may help reduce the normal preamp noise and lessen the volume "swell" you're hearing when using the tremolo.

Hey! What about a pic or two? Especially of the back with the panel removed :o , although I know that might be too much trouble, but at least a shot of the amp.
