I was just wondering if the 65 TRRI's from the 90's are different from the ones being made now.
Someone in my area is selling one from, well he says he's pretty sure from '94, for $650.
Seemed to me like a good deal seeing another used 65 TRRI for 1000 but I wanted to make sure.
Thanks in advance for your help!

A '94 TRRI would've been made in the Lake Oswego, Oregon plant (former Sunn facility) with the serial number prefaced by an "LO". As well, it will have a dummy "ground" switch on the left side of the rear panel. I believe the OEM speakers that year were the Fender/Eminence "special design" types.

Thanks a lot Arjay!

http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/msg/3024755735.html

maybe its not a 94 then. looks like Jensen's in the amp and also he claims it's made in the Corona, California plant. I'm just gonna go ahead and ask him for the serial.
from your knowledge is $650 reasonable for a 90's TRRI?

Yes -- assuming no "issues", $650 is an excellent price.

On top of great advice from Retroverbial, ask the seller to look for an inspection sticker inside the cab, like the one in the photo below. Get the two letter date code from that sticker for the approx date of manufacture. The dating info can be found here:
http://www.fender.com/support/articles/amplifier-product-dating

This one is H - '97, J - October

:?

"D" would be 1993, but there is no month for "S", so I wonder if it's an S or another letter. It could also be just someone's initials. :?:

I think I'd rely on the EIA codes stamped on each tranny to determine the amp's age. The data on the QA sticker seems inconclusive.

The EIA606MS0603-SB tranny dates to the 3rd week of 2006 while the A606MS0537 number translates as the 37th week of 2005.

Likely the amp is an early 2006 model.

ahaha I don't know why the guy thought it was so old.
Now I just gotta go search for some drive pedals to go well with it!
almost wish I could use an amp selector and use twin reverb for clean and my ac30 for drive...
maybe if they weren't so heavy.
Anyway thanks for all the help guys!

Get yourself a Radial Big Shot A/B/Y switch -- they're perfect for running a pair of amps in tandem OR using both channels of a vintage-type Fender amp with dual channels. I have one and it's the best $75 I ever spent on a stompbox.
