The stocked lineup of the three 12ax7 preamp tubes is just a generic lineup as fender knows most people will swap them out for something more vintage sounding. 12AY7 preamp tube in the v1 slot will solve your volume problem.

I have hot rod Deville as well, and yes it is loud. I use an attenuator with mine.

What kind of attenuator do you use with your amp? I looked into the THD ones mentioned but I don't know if i want to dish out that kind of money right now. I would much rather just stick with playing at a lower volume. If I could find a cheap attenuator that works and still keeps my amp sounding great that would be awesome.

Good quality properly designed attenuators can be pricey.
There are some cheap and cheaply made "attenuators" out there that just ruin the tone and create a lot of heat wasting energy for no good reason.
A properly made attenuator may not make sense to spend money to turn the volume down on your amp vs getting a much lower powered Fender amp, especially if you're never going to use or need 60 watts.

As other's have said, do you really 'need' a 60 watt amp?
For home and recording use even my 22 watt 68 CDR can be way too freaking loud.
It sounds great past 5 on the volume, but damn is it loud.
For home playing and especially studio recording you want tone not volume, and that's why the suggestions given for a much lower watt Fender are great suggestions.
And the lower power Fender tube amps are not toys, they are simply great sounding amps at lower volumes, especially if you want that power tube distortion at sane levels.
Less can be more when it comes to amps.
If you need high volume clean tones that's what the Twin can do and to a great extent your Deville.

+1 Well said. I no longer have any amps over 20 watts. My Egnater Rebel is 20, My 5e3 clone is closer to 18, then I have my MODKITDIY 5 watter and a 74 Champ. I used to run a 76 100 watt Twin Reverb and a 65 Watt Sunn Scepter. Even my 40 watt 74 Bandmaster was a bit too much at times. Pushing a lower wattage amp is IMO the best way to achieve great tube tone.
