I owned an SCXD for a very short time and then returned it because it just sounded too small. Got a Mustang II, upgraded to a Mustang III, and was stoked to find Fender using the Mustang modeling in the X2 AND making a head version. A tube based amp with 12" speaker and Mustang modeling? Sounds great! (A shame about no tuner or LCD interface like the MIII, but oh well).

However, I just won't dump $500 on an amp (X2 head and cab) I haven't had the chance to hear in person and play. The only problem is here we are, months after launch, and I still have seen none in stores in the Portland, OR area. Guitar Center, Pro Guitar Shop, Portland Music Company- you name it; none of these guys have gotten the head or even the combo in store. The guy at PMC supposes Fender is holding back on numbers for whatever reason....I really don't know.

Is it the same way for everyone? I'm sitting here waiting to throw money at someone who gets it in store and no one has them. That just seems weird, considering the Mustangs were in store, ready to buy, right away. What's up, Fender? *scratches head*

I love mine ! Bought it @ Guitar Center Online.... Free shipping.... If I didn't like it I would take it to the store, get my money back ( 30 day money back guarantee ) let them worry with shipping or reselling. The manual is correct, you can coax many tones from this light, little amp. 12 inch speaker moves more air, tubes warm up the tone! I own many of the amps it covers ( Fender, Marshall ) and I love it. Haven't used Fuse yet but I have 2 Mustangs ( I, & II ) so I know what this can do !!!

I'd love to see Pro Guitar Shop do a demo of the X2.

I bought the head and the matching cab and I could not be happier. The range of tones is pretty amazing.

I am also really shocked at how much I love to plug pedals into the "clean" channel. My OCD pedal through that channel is one of the best guitar tones that I have ever created. I got rid of my Mustang III and my Blues Jr III to own it and I have not thought of owning another amp since.

The 12 inch cab really takes it to another level for me. I have a friend with the XD with the 10 inch combo and although he gets great sounds out of it, the 10 inch definitely keeps it from achieving any of the bigger tones. The 112 enclosure that Fender makes to compliment the head really sounds high quality to me, not to mention the higher gain tones that it can produce. Some really usable Marshall 80's type tones. And the SuperSonic tones are really amazing too.

So far this amp is only being quietly marketed, and I'm not totally sure why. I am having more fun with it than any amp that I have ever owned. In fact, I will be plugging it into Fuse and tweaking some tones in a few minutes.

I have the X2 head and run it throught a Hot Rod Deluxe 1x12 cabinet. It is a great amp with plenty of punch using the 12" cabinet. I think the Hot Rod Deluxe cabinet is really a little better choice than the SCX2 cabinet in that the cabinet is a little larger and gives a fuller sound. It is a little more expensive but in my opinion is worth it.

i really like the sound of the head and cab. im going to try putting it with a tech 21 power engine 60 for extra volume and see how the line out tone compares. seems like all the new stuff is taking forever to get distributed. Ive been trying to check out a greta for a month and no dice.
