I recently got a Supersonic 100w head. I run it through my 2x12 cab loaded with 2 Celestion G12H Anniversary speakers. Before anyone goes off on one. I know the overall rating for my cab is 60w. But i will never get to maximum output of the head with the situations i play in. Tbh, ill prob never have the need for 100w ever. But the head had all the features i needed and the ability the be swithched down to 25w. Anyway. On to my possible problem.
Without the footswitch plugged in the amp hisses quite bad. After a bit of trial and error, i ve found that when the effects loop is switched on via the the footswitch the hiss is present. But when the loop is off, via the footswich the hiss is gone. If i remove the patch lead from the send and return sockets totally the hiss is still present.
I use the loop as a volume boost and tried various settings on the send and return levels but the hiss remains. Quite off putting when you step on the swith for a solo and the first thing you hear is hiss. Is this normal with these amps or do i need to send it back? This is the only SS 100w i ve access to so i have nothing to compare it to.
Also, after being initially very impressed with the amp, im finding it very hard to get the bass down to a reasonable level and find a good tone overall. The Showman settings is to glassy for me so I generally use the Bassman side of the vintage channel for my slightly dirty rhythm and a drive pedal or the effect loop boost. But i ve got the Bass on 1 and its still on the brink of loosing all defintion and turning into a wooly mess of noise with no note definition. Mids and treble both at 12 o clock.
Any help or EQ suggestions and greatly appreciated. Even maybe a different speaker set up?
Regards.

I would try a new, or known good, tube in position V7 and then V8, before taking the amp back, as half of each tube is used for the loop send (V7) and return (V8). Try the new tube in V7, and if noise is still present, replace original V7 and try the new tube in V8. The loop is parallel, so the tubes are in the circuit as long as the loop is turned on, regardless if anything is plugged into the loop or not.

If the new tube results in no noise, you might be able to have a new tube sent to you from wherever purchased. If the new tube doesn't affect the noise, take the amp back.

Not sure what to tell you bout the buzz you got. Howerver I can comment on the issue your having with to much Bass. I have a Supersonic 60 combo and will never suffer from to much bass, Why? It's an open back cab. of course one could easily argue that an open cab doesn't have enough bass. To scope out some bass from your signal I would suggest a good EQ pedal?

For your muddy, over-accentuated bass issue, I suggest a speaker change to a pair of Eminence Texas Heats. Adding a port to your cabinet's baffle board might also help.
