Yeah those little Marshalls are pricey. I won't buy one. I'll try one, buy I already have a few low wattage amps to record with. When I dial my Egnater down to one watt, the headroom goes in the dumper as well as the punch and presence. Still sounds okay, But I won't record with it under four or five watts. I figure if I want less than five watts, I'll just plug into my iMac and toss on some headphones.

I'll stick with my 5F1 configured Champ 600 with or without the 12" cab. :D

I read where you said that guys used to laugh at your amps like the Vibrolux Reverb while they had all the big amps and cabs....same with me,and I still use the smaller combos, while most of the guys still lugging those big cabs still comment on my amps, but now it's compliments on how well they sound.
A guy who comes to our gigs asked what year my Vibrolux was,I told him a '67...while my son was using my '60 Super...both amps are 35/40 watts,2x10 tone monsters...he said that our tone was so much better than other bands he hears, and said that you just can't duplicate those tones....and the guy isn't a musician....who says people in bars don't care what amps you're using!....lots don't,but the true music lovers like the sound and volume level that we have,we're not sending them home with busted eardrums. :D

A couple of fellows came up to me on Friday night during a break to ask about my rig (two Spankmaster Reverbs -- 40 watts total, with two JBL 15's) and they were pretty impressed when I told them the amps were home-built conversions. One was a guitarist while the other was merely an "interested bystander" who appreciated the vintage tone. The guitar player is now ready to swap his Mesa-Boogie triple-recto and take the plunge into "vintage ampdom".

Guys, I can really relate to this thread, my little Trinity Tramp I finished not long ago is now getting pretty much all my play-time. With a 6V6 in there it does home duties as a 6 Watter (with onboard VRM to attenuate/Brown out), then with a 6L6 it runs as a 12 watter and does it's "I'm a little Bassman you can carry in one hand" impersonation.

Poor ol' Tweed Deluxe is doing Piggy Back duty at the moment but I spotted this cab on the weekend, a local builder makes them, he says it is essentially half a Bandmaster cab with convertable 3 piece back (remove a panel for open/closed back) so it's a bit bigger and deeper than the Deluxe cab, he'll customize finishes for a few extra $$ and is sending me some Tolex samples to ensure a match to my Tramp (Fender Rough Blonde with Wheat grill).

I'm with you Supro, I love little amps.

I never did......that is, until my recollection of "super-group" concerts with their monstrous backlines of phallic-like stacks began to fade from my memories and I started listening to what folks were actually using, rather than what people said I needed to have.

My office is in an outbuilding on our property. After looking at this thread again,I just had to go back in the house to crank my Old Champ through those two twelves again. I'm still grinning.
