Hey I am new to tube amps. But on first hear fell in love with the hot rod deluxe tones. After buying it however I came to notice an extra sound that was there in the amp.

The CLEAN channel also has a slight hum (goes off only when the volume is turned off completely.) This becomes more audible when the volume is turned up (4 or 5 and above.)
And I checked this without plugging in any guitar. Isn't the clean channel supposed to be completely silent when on? or is do the tubes create that slight hum? Would be grateful for the help. Also if this a product problem then what do I do? (I am from India and bought it only last week)

According to sympome, it could be a valve  (or may be solder joints on decoupling capacitors :( ).
However, I strongly recommand to bring your amp back to your dealer for maintenance or exchange because it is still under warranty even for valves and speaker (3 months after buying).
In order to investigate without touching, you can plug you guitar in "Power In" input then only the power section will be used, with that you will be aware if the failed part is in the preamp section or amp section 8)

Thanks a ton Tis san. that was very helpfull. I plugged the guitar on the pOwer in point and the hum was gone. So does this mean that the prob is in the pre amp section? So I have to take it back for exchange I guess.

I would exchange it. And while you're there, try a DRRI. I think you may like the sound a bit better. Also no tube amp is completely silent. You usually hear a tiny bit of low level hiss. Hum could be coming from lots of things. CRT monitors, florescence lighting, bad house wiring etc.

thanks Rock star. The DRRI not available at the stores here. also beyond my budget. you might be right about the hiss. but after following the instructions of the Tis-San from the previous post of plugging the guitar in to the power amp in slot all hum/hiss just disappeared. so does this mean that the problem is in the amp or wiring?

Preamp. Probably V1.

you could swap V1 and V2, there are the same, if V1 is the failed, then putting on V2, it will reduce the hum due to the fact that V1 is the first and second stages of the preamp. On the contrary, it will be worse.
