Been thinking of getting a used extension speaker cab or building one.
Seen a lot of both the enclosures and raw speakers on CL lately but comes the problem.

How to test these cabs or speakers without having an amp?

Scenario(s) I can see happening are:
It's possible the Seller doesn't have the amp any longer.
Seller is selling just the raw speakers and no amp.
If amp is available, no guitar.

I don't feel comfortable in dragging my DRRI along with me along with I guess makeshift cables with alligator clips.

What things can I do to make sure what I buy works without having a amp to try it with?

I remember years ago in school being told to use a 9 volt battery across the terminals.

Definitely a dilemma, tyronne.

Of course it isn't an issue if you're merely buying an empty enclosure. But for sonic testing a loudspeaker, you need both an instrument and an amp.

Perhaps buy a cheap Squier or Affinity guitar for use as a "signal generator" and some small expendible amp head to power the system......?

Thanks for the feedback and suggestion Arjay...

Look like a lot of good deals out there lately but I wonder why?

It's a buyer's market at the moment due to the dismal economy -- bad for folks selling decent gear but great for guys like myself who have some cash.
