After repairing a Frontman 15 I bought on Craigs list for $5, I found it had a nasty buzz. Mechanical in nature but not quite like a bad speaker.... more like a vibration at low volumes. After taking it apart several times I finally figured I'd swapp the speaker with one I had lying around. When I removed the speaker..... suprise!!!! The factory left grill cloth trimmings trapped between the speaker!!!!! NO MORE BUZZ!!!!! And a great little practice amp for $5 !!!

The chicoms don't take much care when building those things. It's no great stretch to understand why Fender doesn't bother repairing them, even when they're under warranty. I had a similar experience with a small Epiphone amp rescued from the trash can at GC after it failed on the store's floor. The manager gave it to me as a joke but I took it with an eye to harvesting any usable parts to recycle. While driving home, the amp took a header off of the back seat and landed hard on the floorboards. When I got it home and checked it, whatever was broke or loose had became "unbroke" or "unloose". The amp played perfectly.

Gotta love such consciencious QC/QA!
