I just purchased a new SCX2 and had it home for a couple of hours of play when all of a sudden there is a large hum noise with no control of the amp at all. I shut the amp down a couple of times but still has the noise. I know this is a new amp model but has this happened on other amps before with anyone. It's a couple hour drive back to the city and they do not have another amp in stock.

Sorry to hear about your amp troubles, have they improved or is a return/refund on the horizon? Maybe it's a fluke... my scx2 head is fantastic. I haven't heard any other tales of failure yet so you might want to try another one... I'll be curious to hear how it all turns out. Good luck...

Went back to the city and found out it was a bad tube. New to the tube world so did not know that could have been the problem. Should have bought extra tubes when I was there but I will grab next time in the big town again. What is the life of tubes or is it how hard you play?

I have tubes in some of my amps that are older than 75% of the people on this forum -- 20 to 25 years in some cases.

Good ones last.

Marginal ones don't.

It's as simple as that.
