Arjay,

Dang it, if years of solder fumes haven't fogged my mine too much!

Be interesting to find the number of "ticking" DRRI with old board versus addendum board. Thanks, for the post.

I feel your pain. What's bad is Fender is kinda riding on its own coat-tail of past fortunes. Prolly why there will always be a market for good used equipment from "the era."

I have had the same problem with the Vib. channel & Other problems as well,.a Horrible buzzing playing low E & a horrible loud intermittent distorted buzz which requires you to turn off the amp.. & this on both the reverb & reg. channels. I have gone through 4 DRRIs in 6 weeks & still I can not find a good one! There has to be a Bad manuf. run at the Fender factory. I have called Fender & they ONLY could suggest that I take it to a Repair center... but F. Taking a brand new amp to get fixed after nearly paying 1k! The manager at my local guitar center in NJ, BobN. has been great in assisting me with these problems (he has never scene anything like this in 35 years), but it is still not resolved, & to no fault of his.

FENDER WAKE UP & DO THE RIGHT THING & DEAL WITH THESE PROBLEMS!

BUYER BE AWARE...

That's the only segment of the amp market that gets any of my money.

Supro,

You know Arjay & I were "discussing" that just the other day. It's true across the board, IMHO. You break open an old SUNN or Hiwatt and WOW!!! They did not fool around in those days.

But honestly, how many new made amps of any brand even compares to the care used to put a lowly SFVC together? Only the "boutique" or Custom Shop amps.

Indeed.

It seems that every day this forum is blessed to feature an ample crop of new "my Hopeless Retard Dysfunction refuses to switch channels", "my Vagrant Mutant sounds fizzy", or "my Fu Manchu caught fire" posts. I'd be curious to know what kind of a bonus the corporate exectutive who answers for all of these seemingly-endless issues receives each year......

I have a DRRI that hasn't had problems. I got it in 2009. I just bought another to be delivered tomorrow. I'll test it good and also put some good tubes and check bias. I was planning to mod this one anyways, but I'll check good. I'm glad I took electronics when I was in school. Sure saved me a bundle.

I can tell you that my 2009 DRRI doesn't tick and I just bought a 2012 DRRI and it doesn't have a tick. So maybe, at the end of 2009, it changed, cause I got it for Christmas.

Actually mine is brand new and like I said this is the third one. The tick isn't as bad on this one but still there. Going to drop it of at the repair shop, in a weekor so, while still under warranty, and see what they say.
