Hi nickswiss,

Do you have the drive and/or volume cranked, and/or using pedals? A squeal says that the signal is too hot somewhere; drive/gain, pedals, volume too loud while standing close to the amp, etc. This is my first thought, eliminate those possibilities first, then suspect V2 preamp tube.

It's unusual but sometimes fairly new preamp tubes can be bad. I've never had an out of the box bad tube but I've had a couple that went bad in short order. Most preamp tubes I've had lasted for years.

I've had a few go bad over the years. All of them went microphonic and squealed like little girls. Never had one "cook" or burn up like a power tube.
