Has anyone replaced the speaker on the SCXD with the Ragin cajun or the Celestion G10 Vintage?

There was someone on youtube that
made a video using all the voices...

I can't remember what the title was...
A search on youtube might find it...

Yeah, I did try a search on Youtube and found some great vids, but the one good one I found I think the guy was playing it through a Marshall cab. I am very impressed with most of the clean voices but I was hoping to get someone's opinion that has had some time to fiddle around with it. The clean channels I could already imagine are fantastic, just want to hear how gritty this amp can go. I really don't want to get the made in Vietnam Vox...

If you are playing a single-coil guitar and looking for cleans, I would be asking why you are reading this post, and not at least half way to your local guitar retailer to buy this amp.

But......................I dunno.......................
GnR...........Hard Rock................

Yea it has overdriven voices. But I'm thinkin', you better go and try this out before deciding. Remember, it is 15 watts. I'm not sure what that Marshall was that you sold.

ok, how about this. Does anyone know if this amp can get some great rock/gain tones? I have not been able to find any floor models to try and have spent the morning doing some phone calling. Any input would be great!

Thx.

For anyone interested in getting some rock tones out of this amp, you definately can. Finally got my hands on one, this little thing is amazing. Did a quick A/B with the VOX AD30vt, and there is no comparison. Yes, you can get some heavier sounds out of the VOX, but at an expense of giving up some great tones out of the SCXD. Would be nice to have a mid control, but all the voices EQ's are preset by Fender. Amazing little amp. I'm waiting for mine to come from the stores warehouse.

The Ragin Cajun is a very nice upgrade over the stock speaker. It's louder and it has a somewhat edgier tone. The stock speaker has a rounder bass tone, but once the RC breaks in, it's great.

thanks Billm. I have never replaced any speakers on any amp I've owned, but have read a lot of good thinks about the Ragin...Is it pretty versatile for most styles of music, or does it cater to say blues and classic rock?

The Ragin Cajun works for anything the SCXD can dish up--jazz tones, surf, overdrive wail, mild breakup. I love it.

I replaced the speaker in my SCXD with a Weber Silver Ten Alnico. I only have a couple of hours on it, so its still breaking in. First impressions are very good, but once I get a good 15 hours on it I will be able to tell for sure.

great, keep me posted and let me know how that speaker works for you. After playing mine constantly for the past 4 days I am leaning towards the speaker replacement. I will give it another couple of weeks and build up some more hours before I do it.

I really like the speaker it came with. I think it's made by Eminance. Anyone know which model this is? I know it a special design, but normally these are just copies of a production speaker.

I was thinking about buying either the black heart or Epi 12" cab that sells for ~ $129. They both use Eminance speakers as well. Anyone tried one of these cabs with the SCXD?

I see no indication that the stock speaker is made by Eminence. It's probably made in China. It's extremely light compared to most speakers--tiny magnet and thin frame. The bass is surprisingly good. It doesn't fall apart until you really get loud. It's a good design for a DSP-based amp because it's neutral and covers all the tones well. But if you want more volume out of the amp and more cutting power in a band situation, the Ragin Cajun is the one to have.

Bill, are you familiar enough with the Eminence Copperhead to say how it would fare in the SCXD? Would it preserve some of the lower tones better than the Ragin Cajun? It's not likely to get louder, but how about smoother and less "harsh" than the stock speaker can get? Thank You!
Bob
