I've got a Deville 410 which I love, however to get it break up nicely its got to be LOUD. I know, I'm old but I'm blowing my bandmates off the stage. Can anyone suggest a reasonable power attenuator? What color hot plate would I need? Does anyone have experience with building you own?

I have a Weber Mini Mass 50 watter. I use it for my Blues Deville 410, Blues Deluxe and my Egnater Tweaker. Really does a great job. Weber recommends at least twice the watts of your amp if you are going to dime them out. I don't do that.

This is the one I got...

Being able to crank my power tubes up without blowing my ears out has really improved the tone of my amps and the string dynamics seem to be a lot better.

It is switchable as well for 4, 8, 16 ohms speaker loads.

I built my own for about $50. I used an old computer power supply box, the fan is a big plus. Most of the stuff you can find at radio shack except the L-Pad which you can get at parts express for $24. Google "havanatone attenuater" that will give you lots of great info.
