Hi.
Once had this problem in the past but I thought it had been a bad power point as the problem disappeared. Anyway the problem is back! After playing the amp for a few minutes the sound momentarily cuts out. Just a fraction of a second. Tonight it lasted a couple of minutes. While there was no sound I switched channels nothing happened. Switched standby on and off nothing happened. Switched amp off and on nothing happened. Then it just came back by itself. When the amp cuts out I am hearing a switching sound almost like when you change channels. Both the Vibro/Bassman Light and the Vintage/Burn go out but the Power light stays on. I was thinking it was maybe a problem with the channel switching relay but why would both lights go out? Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance
Nick

Intermittent problems typically indicate a bad connection somewhere, solder joints being the first suspect.

Cheers for reply. Where would you start to look first?

The power supply for the relays, and the relays. Of course while I was at it, I would check all solder joints as it could be any of them.

Got my problem fixed. Hope this can help someone else out!
Turns out that R158 & R159 have been getting very hot causing cold solder joints. My tech says there is a bit of a fault in the design. The resistors are flat on the circuit board not allowing any air in to help stop them overheating. They have been getting so hot the have turned the board black in the immediate area. This has been causing D49 & D50 to also become extremely hot. To fix the problem my tech has soldered legs to the resistors to lift them about 0.5 inches up from the board. He has also re soldered D49 & D50 and the 2 caps on the other side of the resistors. So fingers crossed this works. If not at least I now know the area with the problem so I am not so worried!

Thanks again Shimmilou.
