Hey y'all,
I have a Combo Fender M80 that buzzes only when the reverb dial is up. It starts to buzz when I turn the reverb dial up and gets progressively louder as I turn up the reverb higher. I tried different power sources and even put a ground lift on the plug but the buzzing is still there. Has anyone dealt with a problem like this on an M80 or another similar solid state amp?
Thanks for your time!
Erika

Oh yeah, does anyone know what kind of wood this amp cabinet is made from? I'd like to strip the weird gray carpet and sand/finish the wood if it's a decent kind. But first...to fix the buzzing reverb which normally sounds like a great tank reverb should!
Thanks in advance for your time,
Erika :)

Hi Erikasixstring,

Check both ends of each of the reverb cables, to and from the tank, and the connectors on the tank. Maybe an open ground, or connector pulled loose.

Thanks shimmilou,
I'll check the cables and take all safety precautions!

Anyone else have any ideas on what kind of wood this amp cab is made of??? I'd really like to strip it down. Maybe convert it to a Steampunk aesthetic?
Thanks guys, E!

Hi Erika,
I have the same problem with the same amp, which I have owned since 1989(!). How did you get on with checking the cables? Did that solve the problem?
Cheers,
C.

Is it possible that the problem is mechanical? Springs came loose? The nature of the noise would most likely be very different than an electronic buzz.
