Hey my blues deville is making this weird sound.. It kind of hisses and it makes this strange ringing sound when you turn the reverb on. And it gets louder as you turn the reverb up.. All of my tubes are pretty old.. You think it just needs new tubes?

It is the first ting to look at ; some new tubes. If problem only on reverb , try to replace only the reverb 's tube. Don't replace power output tubes.

+1 stratele52, tubes are usually the first suspects.

The reverb in the BDvl is driven and recovered by an op am, no tube for reverb.

Hi gtp237,

The easiest thing to try is simply swap in a known good tube in any of the first three positions, V1 or V2 or V3, collectively referred to as preamp tubes (the smaller ones). V1 and V2 are preamp, and V3 is the phase inverter (PI). Looking at the back of the amp, counting right to left, V1, V2, etc. Just a guess, but you could try V3 first. With amp off, remove V3, install new tube and power on amp and check. If you still have the noise, replace the original V3, and try the new tube in another position.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

Yep, sounds like a microphonic preamp tube. Make sure they're all properly seated first, then turn it on, and tap each tube with the eraser end of a pencil. If one of the tubes reacts, that's probably the culprit.
