Hey

First of all i use my best englisch but i am dutch speaking normally

Ok, I bought a twin reverb ri a month ago, and now the doubts kickt in. the sound is very harsh and icky. But i ran the twin over my marshall 1960 cab and sudden the sound became really warm and i could turn the amp up to 7 and even then it was loud but not painfull loud as it used to be. Now what i want to know are there guys who had the same isseu's whit this amp, and what i should to. To run over the cab constantly isnt that practical because the twins weight is already enough to handle. Should i put new speakers in the twin (now it has the jensen speakers)? are should i use a smaller cab 2X12, also the normal channel sounds warmer than the reverb channel is this just a tube isseu?

I hope someone could help me, because im startin to worry i just bought the wrong amp or something. i know these are not the same like the old ones but (maybe whit some modification) could they be really nice amps?

thanks

I'm willing to bet that your Marshall cab has a closed back which will give you more bass and lower midrange (more warmth) than the open back Fender cab. Also, given that you can turn the amp up to 7 with the Marshall cab and not blow the walls out of your house would indicate that the Marshall speakers are less efficient (require more power for the same loudness) than the Fender amp. Finally, depending on how often you play, if you only bought the TRRI a month ago, the speakers are probably not fully broken in yet.

The TRRI is a loud, clean, bright amp. That's the way the original amp was designed and the way the reissue is designed. Are you using the TRRI to just play at home (probably not the best amp choice for that) or are you gigging with it (in which case you should let it break in more)?

Hey, sorry for my late answer.

The amp is indeed a new one, so the speakers arent fully broken in.

After switching with some tube etc.. i find that the normal channel sounds really great. now i want the same thing happening whit the reverb channel. can someone help me. because i find the reverb channel sounding a little bit to harsh.

What model number are those Jensen speakers? Are they C12K? Seems ppl either love them or hate them. You maybe one of the latter types.

The Eminence 037617's aren't much better.

Please explain these statements. What tubes did you switch and what did you switch them with?

I switcht the tube form the phase inverter with the tube from the normal channel. they told me this wil make the amp slightly darker sounding. but i think i just have to admit it that i just bought the wrong amp.
