Deep Purple? I seriously doubt it. I tried the VM (Vintage Molested) series when they first came out and was seriously disappointed with them. I found the effects pretty cheesy.

Strange,
I have one and yes, with some adjusting you can get some really fantastic tones from this amp! I now use this one as my main gigging amp and have absolutely no regrets. Some folks do not like them as my esteemed brother Supro has stated but I would say try one out ofr yourself. In the end it is what you like. Hope that this helps.

I had bought the Bandmaster VM and was also highly disappointed. The clean channel was great, but I found the overdrive channel to be too thin and almost digital sounding for my liking. It seemed to be voiced very bright; not to my liking.

The grill cloth frame un-velcroed itself from the example I played at GC and fell on the floor while I was playing it.

The sales rep accused me of breaking it and threatened to call the cops.

I waited around for about 3/4 of an hour but they never showed up.

Dunkin' must've had a sale on donuts that day......

So, you are the one going around to all the GCs and breaking stuff!

I could just see the poor sap calling the cops and complaining that one of the display models at GC was damaged when a customer tried it out.

At least around here, that would get a good laugh from the dispatcher.

The Bandmaster VM did that to me too. The grill fell off and the sales guy gave me the stinkeye. But I agree with my friend ABS, try one for yourself. Everyone's ears are different.

Hey Arjay, glad to see you back buddy. I had a computer thing that wiped out my address book. I hope all is well with you and your family.

Oddly enough, it was a damaged display model that lead me to get a Twkr 40. I initially bought the 15, then returned it with the intention of getting the Reb 20. They only had the display model in stock and it looked as if it had been dropped, three corner joints were broken and hanging together by the covering. Being impatient, I got the 40 to take home and try, and it turned out to be just right for me.

Arjay,
I know why it did that...You probably brought in your beautiful Strat and the tone just knocked the screen off of it  Great seeing you buddy!

LMFAO

Actually, the guitar I was using was an equally-dismal AmStd HSS Strat. Such episodes serve as a great reminder as to why I never buy new/modern gear.

Actually, I subsequently talked to a buddy who works at that GC and he told me of the six new VM's they received, five of them were like that. During their final assembly, the "eyelet" (female) portion of the velco was apparently not installed on the fronts of the baffle boards. Hence, with nothing to grip to, the grill frames were bound to part company with the cabinets at some point. Mebbe they were built during World Cup week......
