I’ve got a 90’s-era Fender Champion 30 amp that I use as a personal monitor for church services. Our sound guy doesn’t want to mic the amp; instead, he asks that I go direct. The DI boxes that the church has are Live Wire Solutions PDI Double Shielded Heavy Duty Passive Direct Boxes. Currently, I’m running the DI between my pedals and my amp, using the XLR out to the PA and the parallel quarter-inch out to the amp.

I would like to find a way to run from the amp to the DI so that I can send the post-EQ signal to the DI and have a little more control over my tone, but still retain the amplified sound out of the speaker to continue to use as a personal monitor. Typically I run the amp at only about 2-3 on volume, so I’m not sure if the external speaker jack would drive the signal going to the PA too much. I’m a little nervous to try. I have a bass amp that allows me to do this via a line out, so I’m wondering if I can add a line out to the Champion 30. I’m fairly competent with a soldering iron, just not the best at interpreting schematics, so any help would be appreciated.

Nice, that's what I was going for, but I'm wondering if there's an even easier way to do it... I mean, I've got access to the DI box, so I don't necessarily need the balanced line out as much as just an unbalanced 1/4-inch line out. I suppose I could mock something up from the speaker leads with a pot to attenuate the volume, but I'd really love to make it even more simple/stealth - i.e. just a single jack on the back, no volume or anything. Just plug 'n go.

You still need to drop the signal level to what the DI box will handle.

Is there a way to tap into the signal post eq, pre amplification?

Ah. Forget this. Just realized this is a solid state amp. I fixated on "Champion" and paid no attention to the year or model. Sorry.

Yes, but it would require mods to the PCB which would not be worth it.
