Hi, forgive me if this has been answered somewhere else but I've searched and searched and couldn't find an answer.

So I have a Frontman 15G that I picked up at the pawnshop for $20, a few months back. I'm finally getting to the point of being able to play chords and rifs and would like to play over some tracks through the amp. So I went to BestBuy and bought a cable that converts the iPod to RCA output through the 30pin connection on the iPod (iPhone and iPad actually).

So the problem is once I connect the either of my devices to the Aux in I can't turn the volume down. None of the volume knobs on the AMP will turn down the music nor can I turn down the volume either on my iPhone (3GS ios 4.x.x.) or with my iPad (ios 5)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hi dukeryder,

Once you connect the iPod to the connector, the iPod volume becomes fixed and you use the device that the iPod is connected to for volume control. In this case, the amp has no volume control for the aux in. The Aux in on the amp goes into the output section, after the preamp and vol control.

You'll have to use the headphone out of the iPod in order to have vol control on the iPod. That means a different cable to convert the stereo 1/8" mini plug of the headphone out, to the same connectors that you are using now into the amp (RCA?).

If your amp has RCA left and right for the aux in, use a cable like this and plug into the headphone out on the iPod. Then you will have volume control on the iPod.
1/8"Stereo2RCA

Thanks Shimmilou

I think I'll return that cable and get one of the headphone jack ones instead. Especially since it's a fraction of the cost!
