Hi all,

Can anyone give me a tip on cleaning the contact points on an Ultimate Chorus amp? The nuts around the plugs are showing what appears to be rust. I'm not sure what the metal is so I'm not sure what cleaning product to use. Is it chrome?

Thanks in advance!

Rust around the nuts does not mean you need to clean contact.

Have you some contact problem ? And if you talk about input jack contact you can only clean some, not all of them .
If the plug is noisy , intermittent when you plug your guitar, spray contact cleaner on your guitar jack and plug it few time in the amp plug, This could clean some contact. But if you don't use your amp often the contact inside will rust . Only way to have a good contact ; replacement.

Good luck

Thanks, stratele. Yes, I was referring to the nut around the contact point (I wasn't sure how else to reference what I was talking about). The nut rust is mainly unsightly but I am getting a bit of crackling when I plug in as well. It's been a few years since I used it regularly and during that off time I lived very close to the beach.

I'll try the contact cleaner for the input jacks themselves. It seems like there must be some kind of mild solvent that could take the rust off of the surrounding area. however.

Thanks again for your input!

Sometimes when contact in the amp's input jack are "old" the metal part are used and when the guitar are not connected for a long time in the amp some kind of rust appear on the metal parts and make noise.

Contact cleaner could work for short time. Often the only way is to replace the input jack .
