Nice read, I will reduce it to 25. I don't think I can measure plate voltage, at least the probe I got doesn't allow for that I'm quite sure.

There is also a calculator somewhere in the same post .

Excellent thread. I remember it well.

No, you can't, not with the probe you bought. But you can with this one:

Well worth the price.

Lacking that, here is the schematic for your amp:

http://support.fender.com/schematics/gu ... ematic.pdf

Locate test points 37 and 38. Set your DVM to 400 VDC (or whatever the high range is). Place the black lead on ground and the red lead on one, then the other test point and measure the plate voltage. Do this carefully as you are working with high voltages. Take a reading and multiply each tube's reading by the measured cathode current for that tube and voila, (close enough to) the % max plate dissipation. If the thought of sticking your hand that close to 400 VDC frightens you, then invest in the probe I recommended or another that allows you to measure both cathode current and plate voltage.

Hehe, I did think about getting a probe that can do both. I read that the reissue has lower plate voltages than older versions due to different valves coming on the market I guess. I don't think it's the norm to have 425+, more like 400 - 410, definitely not 450+. So with that in mind I thought the probe I bought would suffice. My amp is at 25/26 and sounds good.

I don't think it's really possible to get the Deluxe to sing at low volume, it doesn't sound bad just doesn't sing like a smaller amp does at low volume. Sure I can turn down the signal gain and crank the gain on the amp but that doesn't drive the preamps, quite tricky to get a good balance. Which Fender amp would you recommend for decent bedroom volume and best tone?

I'm not the one to answer that. I play a 1959 Bassman clone that I built in my bedroom (home studio, actually).
