Hi,
I have been looking for a small practice amp, and I happened upon a demo on uTube for the Fender Blues Junior which looked very impressive (Andertons music shop here in the U.K). I would be using the amp mainly with my Les Paul.

My questions are: is it worth getting the Blues Junior or the Junior 111, as a local shop still has an example of the Blues Junior in stock, and what is the difference between the two?
Also are they built in the U.S.A or China, as I’m loath to buy anything that’s not made either in the U.K or the U.S? (I’m a bit funny like that)

I would be grateful for any help from members here who are more knowledgeable about Fender products than me (not difficult)

Regards,
Ian.

The Hot Rod series amps, HRDlx, Blues Jr etc are made in Mexico. You would nee to step up to the 65 reissues Princeton, DRRI, Twin etc. to get a U.S. made Fender amp.

Easy. It's half of the Junior 222.

I've never played on one of these BJrIII amps. Do they sound anything like a Peavey EL84 amp (ala Classic 20 or 30)? Classic 30's are one powerful little amp. And a REAL beetch to work on.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that by Junior 111, you mean the Pro Junior III?

Yes. Get that. Better yet get an older one if you can find one. I know this is one of those beat-to-death topics but IMO the Pro Jr. just has more soul than the Blues Jr. I've owned both and the Blues Jr. just didn't do as much for me; but the Pro Jr. just takes it back to basics and IMO has a better "inherent tone". It sounds wicked out of a good external speaker, and will punch way above it's wattage class in terms of volume. Good, solid, simple amp.

I also feel that by Junior III, he probably means the Pro Junior III. To help the Brit brother out. I can't speak for others but I like the guitars and some of the amps that are coming out of Mexico for Fender. The Japanese stuff has always been pretty swell also. Some people like the more simple circuit of the PJ over the BJ. I have an American PJ and a Mexican BJ. If you can land an American (made in Brea, California) tweed PJ, you will be styling! It has a bitchen tone! Blues Juniors have a juicey tone also!

Many thanks for your comments. To avoid confusion, here is a link to a retailer here in the U.K, they also have a rather good video review of the amp at the bottom of the page, it was this that first attracted me to this amp, and Fender Amps in general.
