I recently purchased a '65 deluxe reverb reissue from amazon.com. When it arrived one side of the box it shipped in was damaged and the retail box was inside of a much larger box with no padding or protection in the gaps. After letting the temperature adjust (We're in Ohio), I plugged the amp in, powered up the tubes and I instantly hear what sounds like wind blowing through a mic and sporadic hisses and pops. Not too loud, mind you, but loud enough.

This isn't a common problem with this amp is it? Do I have a case for saying that it was damaged in shipping?

Sounds like a bad pre-amp/gain stage tube. Best to get a replacement, based on the damage issue.

Check that 5AR4 rectifier tube also, there have been many complaints of rattles from them !

I've had three of the GT/Ruby 5AR4's rattle in my DRRI's causes a buzz in the notes, could be worse if it got banged around enough.

You will love the amp as soon as you get past this issue, they are great !!!!

Thanks, guys. Sending the amp back for a replacement, just hope it isn't packed by whatever simpleton packed it the last time. Definitely love the tone, one good thing is that the noise was never loud enough to overtake the instrument, so I was able to get a good feel for the amp.

Good for you ! A new amp should be NEW !

Welcome to the Forum, You can read for days about the good old 65 Deluxe Reverb RI here, Most very possitive a few slight problems arise on occasion, nothing compared to many other amps being produced these days (all Makes included).

You'll find 99% of the owners of DRRI are very happy with them.

Glad to have you onboard !
