Do you experience the reveb issue with the footswitch and footswitch cable dettached? I heard many of the SS22's issues are not the amp itself, but the footswitch and related circuitry.

Footswitch makes no difference, plugged in or not.

I picked up my replacement SS22 this evening. The first developed a nasty hiss at low volume after a week's use. The replacement is quiet and sounds pretty good. We will see if it holds up.

I'm sure you know this Bill, but if you develop any hiss, start replacing tubes one at a time. Fender doesn't always use the "best" tubes in their amps, and most probably uses the "cheapest". I've retubed both my Supersonics (I had an original 60W before the new, updated line came out)... I do keep the GT 12AT7 tubes, because I've only got one of those NOS. They seem to be fine. But my stock power tubes went within 3 months... not worth taking back, I just installed a new set of my preference, re-biased, and it's been good for 1.5 years.

Thanks for the suggestion. If this one acts, replacing tubes is where I will start.

Sure sounds good right now.

I just bought a new ss22, made in july 2018. Within a few minutes noticed the reverb fedback on high gain at about 5. Went online, read this thread, decided i need to remove some contact between cab and reverb, inserted some cut up 1/2 inch sponge in 3 spot under bag, replaced the rca cable with one only slightly thicker. No more feedback. If I only had done these mods seperately I could have maybe nailed down one issue or the other. But for others, th8s would be an easy place to start. The reverb is extremely close to the speaker, I am not sure my reinsertion of the reverb is not even closer than it was originally since I am about 1/5 of an inch higher. I considered mounting the reverb outside the cab, but as I dont plan on using the onboard reverb solely, I am going to live with this fix.

Now....Fender not performing a very simple fix to this......inexcusable, my next goal is to find an amp made by anyone else that has the same features that brought me to this amp. INEXCUSABLE, the worst infraction of a manufacturer of any product in any industry I have come across.

I know this is an ancient thread but I've been struggling with this for a long time. I got a new tank, replaced the tubes, replaced the RCA cables, just about everything. And it was the stupidest effing thing. Even in the isolated bag the reverb tank since I cram so much stuff in the back of the amp between gigs was touching up against the speaker frame and giving feedback. I just slid it to the farthest rear part of the back of the amp and noise and squeal and everything else has gone away. I can crank the reverb to 10 and sounds just as it should
