I have had my first edtion Cyber Twin for sometime now and I need some information.

Is it possible to control the Wah Wah effect with an expression pedal plugged into the back of the amp? If so, how do I go about setting it up?

Thanks for any help.

1. Pedal and CT Set-up

First, some caution. Expression pedals are analog devices with analog problems and chances that you might have some problems. See Chapter 8 for further explanations. With that behind us, the expression pedal does not have to be set-up, it is not a MIDI device. Just plug it into the CT and you are done. However, you have to tell the CT what you want the Expression Pedal to control. That exercise is the Pedal Assignment. See below for more on this.

The Fender FC’s Master Volume Pedal number is set to 7, and the Fender FC’s Continuous Controller number is set to 11. Neither of the Fender FC’s pedals can be set any other controller number, these are permanent settings.

On the CT, the Master Volume Pedal number cannot be re-assigned. The CT’s Master Volume Pedal assignment will always be a Master Volume Pedal. The CT’s Master Volume Pedal number is permanently set to 7. Note that the FC’s and CT’s Master Volume Pedal numbers are both set to 7 permanently.

On the CT, the Continuous Controller can be assigned number from 1 to 100. This flexibility was put into the CT so that any MIDI Continuous Controller can be used. However, the CT’s default Continuous Controller number is set to 11 and this is exactly what the FC Continuous Controller number is permanently set to. To use the FC Continuous Controller Pedal with the CT, the CT’s Continuous Controller number has to be set to 11.

2. Pedal Assignments

The CT can be setup to assign the Continuous Controller Pedal and the Expression Pedal independently to any of the following effects:
a. Gain
b. Volume
c. Treble
d. Middle
e. Bass
f. Presence
g. Reverb
h. Effects Level
i. Effects Value 1
j. Effects Value 2
k. Effects Value 3
l. Effects Value 4
m. Master Volume
n. Reverb Input Level
o. Reverb Tone
p. Reverb Time
q. Reverb Diffusion

Note that assignments h to l depend on the selected (and active) Preset Effect or Reverb Type setting. It’s best to first select the effect (either Preset Effect or Reverb Type), then assign h to l (the Effects Level and Value) to the desired Continuous Controller or Expression Pedal.

Each Fender Custom Shop, Player’s Lounge, and Your Amp preset has assignments for the Continuous Controller and the Expression Pedal. These assignments can be changed with the CC. However, note that only the Player’s Lounge pedal assignment settings can be saved on the CT or to files on your PC.

This means you have to select the preset or reverb first. I am assuming you will want to select one of the 42 presets that have wah-wah. For example, if you pick “Pedal Wah”, them h to l in the above table will become:
Wah Out Level
Wah
Wah Heel Freq
Wah Toe Freq
Wah Sweep type
You have to try it out to figure what you want.

So to do it, do this:

To select the preset, press the FX button (the FX button let’s you pick one of the 42 presets) and the rotate the big knob (Data Wheel) until you have selected “Pedal Wah” or something with a Pedal Wah in it.
Then, to set the continuous controller to control the Wah, press the AMP button (many times) until you arrive at Cont Controller. Then rotate the big knob (data wheel) to select the effect you want the continuous controller to control, then press EXIT to save.
Do 1 followed by 2. You have to select the effect first, then set the controller to the effect.

P.S. your default setting on your FC(FOOT Controller) is 1.

Steve:

Thank you very much. I'll give it a try and see what happens. I really do appreciate your help.

You refer to "Chapter 8," is that in the Cyber Twin Manual or where?

Thanks again.

No it is actually from a program a guy is developing for the CT to use a laptop or computer to run your CT.
