Hello all,

I am interested in eventually getting a nice new tube amp for myself. I practice with a Vox AC4TV dialed to 1W and the clean is just lovely. What I want is something larger still, that I can roll back the volume on my strat to attain a similar clean. I am not looking for a Fender blackface clean, that's a beefier and bluesier sound than what I am looking for.

I came across a company named Avatar, which sells an amp modelled after the 1974x. The amps are handwired, made in the USA, and have some nice speaker options. I am starting to think that I am an Alnico man rather than Ceramic. When I think of Greenbacks I envision a certain 'sharpness' to them when cranked, which I don't think I want. Not that Greenbacks don't sound pretty, it's all subjective!

Anyway, here is a demo of the 18w 112 I was thinking about getting:

I am digging this sound, especially what the fellow on the right is playing. I believe his amp contains a Celestion Gold.

Anyway, has anyone any experience with gear from this company? Or have any suggestions as far as other amps go? I think the price point is pretty spot on without venturing as much into boutique territory. I have also thought about the made in Vietnam Vox AC15HW but I am unsure on that one. Just trying to get a feel for what's out there. I am hoping I can nail this one on the first try without spending too much on the journey that is tone hunting. Thanks all
