Was at NAMM and heard the Greta in person, both through it's 4" speaker and through a closed back 2x12 cab. Sounded very nice and cleaned up with volume. Scratching my head why Fender didn't put a handle on the darned thing. It's no EC Champ, but it's also not the same price...

Nice amps , but why "Pawn Shop Amp " ?

I think the ''Pawn shop" concept is - they are something which never existed but might have, something you'd spot at the back of the shop and wonder what it is.

I like Greta. Cool styling. She doesn't need a handle, just a comfortable spot in the loungeroom.

Any demos of Greta on youtube yet? I'm interested in it as a pre-amp, but I want to know how it sounds....

The Excelsior amp really looks cool. What especially intrigues me about it is the accordion input. I play both electric guitar and electric accordion, and have been looking for an amp that can handle both. I haven't seen an amp with an accordion input since the old Ampeg Gemini amp line. Does anyone know if you can really plug an accordion into the Excelsior, or is "accordion" just the name for a different amp sound/channel?
I am asking this because when I used to amplify my accordion for band at music school, I always had to plug it into a bass amp, because it could blow a normal guitar amp. Therefore this information is important for my purchasing decision, as I don't want to buy a new amp only to blow the speaker right away. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your help!
Steve

Dang, the Excelsior is just exactly the kind of amp I've been looking for. Tube, 15" speaker, tremolo, low wattage and cheap. I'm definitely going to have to play one in person as soon as they're out. The youtube demos from NAMM look very promising.

So when can we expect to see these for sale? I will be shelling out the dough for an Excelsior, I think it may make a nice little blues harp amp!

Apparently the street price is going to be $299 for Excelsior and $199 for Greta. You can already pre order them from Sweetwater, and it looks like they set to ship late this month (any day now basically).

I wonder if the tremolo is able to be controlled by a footswitch on the Excelsior?

I love the idea of the new amps and can't wait to try them. I hope they make the Greta in a few other finishes or with some tweed accents or something. I also wish they will get rid of the Greta name and put a proper Fender name badge on it. I love Fender products and I like the logo and I am always proud to have it on my equipment. I think the Greta would be twice as cool if it said FENDER on the front. I hope Fender makes the change or offers another model with Fender on the front.
