Hi Folks,

Any recommedations for Home & maybe a small gig amp?

I looking for a kind of a SRV sound any suggestions?

(I don't have Telephone lines for strings or Fred Flintstone like fingers)

Can the right amp help for the SRV sound? I have a CS Strat Pro, should I change the pick ups to the "texas" ones?

Thanks.

It's not just the amp. It's a lot of other factors. He did use Tube Screamers heavy strings and serious attack. I you ever saw him live, then you'll know no one has ever nailed his tone. Some guys think they have, but I've never heard it. A lot of his sound and everyone else's is in the fingers. Oh yeah SRV mostly used his fingers, no pick. No matter what he played, it still sounded like him.

I agree, to a point. I was fortunate to meet Stevie in person around 1983 (quite by accident). I have been listening to and playing the Texas Blues sound for more than 30 years now. A good tube amp is a great building block for tone. I also own an SRV Strat with the Texas Specials as well as an American Deluxe with the S-1 switching system, a tube screamer TS-9 (I had a TS-8, and like Stevie upgraded to the 9). The best way to come CLOSE is to listen, really listen, and play over and over and over with Stevie on record. Also do the same with Albert King, Albert Collins, Lonnie Mack and anyone else of that nature. That is how Stevie learned. We all cannot have "Popeye arms" as Mr. Cee used to call them (Stevie's good friend and first road manager). I have also purchased the 64 Fender Vibroverb Custom and really want a 1959 Bassman LTD next. Like I said, listen to everyone you can including Jimmie Vaughan too. You will soon (depending on how much you practice) will notice the difference. This is just some free advice from an old-school rock and blues guy. 8)
