Well I've never needed to see one, but this guy was highly recommended and spoke to him a while back, seemed like a nice guy. Anyway, my guitar teacher recommended one other amp tech and he told me I should see him tomorrow and that it shouldn't take more than an hour or two to fix it. I hope I'll also learn something about fixing the amp (or even just swapping the tubes, if a tube is faulty) from all of this :P This being my first tube amp and my first ever need to see an amp technician, I don't have any experience or skills in these matters yet :P

Just an update - it was fixed. The problem was a bad contact due to a part of copper wire in the circuit being partially fried as the current when turning the amp on is very close to the maximum current these wires can take. The tech said this is a common occurrence in amps built in factories after they're a couple years old. The trip to the tech also revealed that one of the resistor in the circuit got fried once (got repaired, it all happened to the previous owner, the burnt marks are still visible and the "new" resistor is lifted a bit from the circuit - a bit more than all the other resistors that are original). He implied the fix could have been made a bit better, but, seeing how the amp works like it should, I don't have to worry about it.

This luckily cost me only 20€ (he asked for 15 but I gave him 20 since he took me in straight away as I need the amp for tomorrow's gig), the wire he soldered can take stronger current, so it shouldn't happen again. He was a bit unorthodox, to say the least :P There was also a bit of a 'pop' sound when I turned the amp off there (and the amp was a bit more noisier), but he said the wiring in that building isn't as good as in most buildings, so that was responsible for it.

Also - if some of this made no sense, English is not my mother tongue and electricity isn't exactly my area of expertise, so when I translate things to English.. well you know what I mean, I might have said some really dumb stuff along the way

I just bought a used Super-Sonic 60 last night (paid $750), I use the effects loop to play at bedroom level by jumping the effects loop with a short cable, then I turn the send and return volumes to minimum level, I can turn the Vibrolux/Bassman channel above 4 and get the perfect sound at bedroom level. :D

This sounds really cool renejoan, been thinking about trying it. Congrats on your purchase, is yours the blonde version or the black and pepper?

I have the blonde and it fits with the binding of my Gibson Les Paul Standard. I played it for more than four hours yesterday and this morning my fingers are sensitive...

Nice mate, keep enjoying it :D

PS: If you ever read my upper post - the fix with the better wire (one that can take stronger current) also caused my tubes to distort sooner, at around 3,5-ish on the bassman channel (the tech said the tubes were a little cold before and are now properly heated, thus the tubes start breaking up a bit sooner). So if you ever want to get that volume even lower and still get that tube breakup that'd be the way to go.
