I have an Supersonic 22 and i agree with the assessment that the 60w kills also - i have a V.K. for the 60w stuff (but i will be getting a S.S. 60 also) 8)

I recently picked up a older Super Sonic 112 (60 watt) with the black pepper look. Minty. (Traded a Gibson Blueshawk for it) Its everything good that's been described already. I have found the quieter clean Vibro channel is actually a blessing to quiet down rhythms or any time the bands already cookin with gas and it aint your turn so to speak. When it is your turn, Bassman (Louder) or Burn...The volume controls are effective, turn it down, it gets quieter..... I hear there were some minor effective improvements in the newer Super Sonic 60 as they're called now. Now that I have the first 2 gigs done I have a better handle on using the amp. Very nice I had a "Twin Amp" before at 88 pounds. It was nice too but the SS line rules today.

boofhead61, just wondering how things are going with your Super Sonic 60 lately, I'm planning on getting one in the near future, how do you like the reverb on it?

Thanks, G.

While I'm not the guy you mentioned, I also have the SS 60, 1x12 combo. The reverb on it is awesome. I usually have it set at around 2.5-3 and actually feel weird when I'm recording and playing without reverb lol. It's exactly what (especially the clean channel) needs for your tone to really 'float'.

Thanks Neimenljivi, that sounds good, I've been a little concerned about whether I should get one because there's been so much talk of some recent Fender amps such as the '65 DRRi & the Super Sonic 22 having a lot of howling reverb problems.

It seems for the most part and from what I can tell, the Super Sonic 60 is a good amp and pretty well trouble free. Gonna take the plunge on one in a few Months.

I bought mine used, got it for 900€ (while the new ones cost around 1500€ here) and it was practically in a mint condition. Not even a scratch on it. Just a bit of dust. There was some sort of burnt-ish small area at the back (I'm not an electronics guy so I have no idea what that exactly is called). Anyway, the amp was 2 years old and was really well preserved. Wasn't played outside the studio or the owner's house. I thoroughly tested it out (as I read there were some problems with footswitch and reverb on a couple of these amps) and t worked without any problem. It's been 6 months now and it still has no issues (except from a small rattling, I suspect of the tubes, you can hear if you pay close attention to it, on a couple of notes on G and B strings - wasn't at all audible when I recorded it, though, and our studio engineer paid close attention when I said what I heard, wasn't audible through the mic so I guess it's not that big of a deal and probably an easy fix for anyone who has ever changed tubes themselves). Anyway, I find buying used things is beneficial - not only for the lower price, but also to see whether problems have occurred. If it hasn't occurred in 2 years and a half, I doubt it will :)
So if you can, try to find a used one in a mint condition. That way you can avoid some of the problems.

As for the tone - you'll love it :) It's also very versatile, you won't need any booster for solos or anything like that - just engage FX loop via the footswitch and set FX send and return levels to boost the signal (or you can attenuate the signal and thus can crank up the preamp to get to natural tube distortion, then attenuate the power to get to a level that won't make you deaf - heck you could play at night with it if you attenuate the power all the way down). Really versatile and good sounding :) I don't think I see myself ever parting with it - if all goes well. The cleans are great, the burn channel great as well. The reverb makes your guitar float really well. It's hard to explain in words, this is an amp you have to try out to see what I mean :P

EDIT: Oh and seeing the quote in your sig - you can get really good bluesy gain sound on the burn channel as well. I usually have it set at hard rock-ish overdrive (but not really the over-compressed distortion, I don't like that) and if I have to get to a more bluesy gain, I just turn down the volume pots on my guitar. But you can, of course, get a good bluesy gain on the burn channel with having the volume pots on your guitar maxed out :)

Sounds really good Neimenljivi, I like that you can attenuate it, can't wait to get it and try this out. :D

Yep, just plug in a short, patch cord (even if you don't use any external effects that you put in the FX loop), and you can use the loop itself as an attenuator or as a booster :)

Great idea. I've used one of these babies to try out new guitars, and agree with all that's been said about the tone and flexibility. It's WAY more amp than I need but that vibrolux/bassman clean channel is the shizzit. If a short patch cord is all that's required to tame this beast for home use, I'll be giving it serious consideration.

Finally picked up a used 2006 early version Super Sonic 112 Combo today at a killer price, only $650.00 out the door.

This thing is mint, and sounds absolutely amazing, very touch sensitive and inspiring.

Cleans are nice and sparkly, while the drive is just simply mind blowing, and the reverb works great. :)

Wow, that's a killer deal mate! Hope you enjoy the amp :) It looks stunning, too. Mine's the black version. I like the tweed version a bit more, but couldn't choose as the black one was the only one on the used market here.
I'm sad to report that something happened to my amp on Thursday. :( Hoping it's just a tube.. All the channel lights light up, the on light doesn't light up and the amp produces no sound. Tubes don't light up either. I have been calling an amp tech all weekend, but he had his cell phone off. I hope it can be repaired quickly and cheaply. Got a charity gig on Thursday and would love to use my own amp.

Thanks Neimenljivi, she is sweet, I don't think the owner before me played it very much, it looks so clean you'd think it just came out of the box straight from the factory.

Hope you get yours sorted out soon, I know how it is to have to look around for an amp to use.

Ditto, the only difference is that mine was dusty. About 3 or 4 years younger too, but if I had both amps in the same room and could buy either one, I'd probably go for yours. Better looking and way cheaper. Age doesn't matter to me much if the amp is in a mint condition :)

Yeah. I will probably borrow my other's guitarist Twin Reverb. Could borrow a Deluxe Reverb or perhaps my GF's dad would lend me his Marshall (don't know the model, all I know is that it's 60W tube and cost around 2k €) - but it would feel very weird for me asking him this
So there are some fine amps around me that I could borrow.. None of them are my sweet sounding SS which, paired with my Gibson LP, had just the right cleans and overdrive for the set we're playing :( The amp technician still has his phone turned off, damnit.
