I gigged for the first time with my new SS last night at a club outside Sydney.
What an experience.
This amp will highlight your strengths as a player but will also expose any weakness.
I was playing my 60th Anniversary Tele so there was nowhere to hide.
I have not played through an amp with those kind of cleans before and it was a bit intimidating I must say.
We played four 40 min sets so there was plenty of time to put the amp through its paces.
Starting with the Vibrolux setting.
Beautiful, glassy warm tones and once was settled in with it I realized how responsive this amp is to your touch and your playing dynamics are the key to this (and all the channels).
Our Bee Gees and Eagles medleys came to life and the cleans really suited the rhythm parts.
I used this channel early in the night when you need to keep levels under control.
The Bassman setting.
This is the amps secret weapon in my opinion and I got into using it more as the night went on.
Its rich, gutsy and powerful.....breaking up more as you dig in...I need to explore this channel a bit more before giving a comprehensive review on it.
The burn Channel.
I had a Boss ME70 at my feet that didn't get used for drive sounds all night.
The amp had it all covered.
We play everything from early rock and roll, Eagles,Bee Gees,Queen,Disco medleys, stones etc....a lot of different genres requiring a lot of sounds and this baby cut them all.
So.....my observation is this...this amp is truly a musical instrument with all that implies.
My right hand worked all night...strumming,picking,switching pickups, adjusting volume and tone etc....you need to work your guitar to get the best out of it.
This is a thing of beauty visually and people were asking me about it all night.....its not a set and forget bit of gear.
You have to come up to the amps level...it will challenge you in the best way and if you pay it due respect you will be a better player for the experience.

Nice review, thanks boofhead61 :)

I have wanted to check one out, maybe they will eventually get one at GC one of these days.

Well worth a look mate...I will be doing some serious scale practice today...one thing that the amp shows up in particular is uneven right (or left) hand alternate picking deficiencies.
The notes are articulated so cleanly that any glitch is magnified.

I have a Supersonic 112 blond combo so I "kinda agree" but you see, I also have the Supersonic Twin blonde combo... and well... Its another forward move by Fender with its added features. I like them both BUT as of now, the SS Twin has it in my view. Check it out on Youtube.

This sounds great... I'd love to see a live video of your band!

took a quick look at the schematic no cathode follower driving the stack..so not quite the same as a bassman....but they may have voiced the amp so. I have Supersonic 22 and swear by it have not tried the 60w yet since my VK and my fingers handle that vol need....

GC tends to stock the top sellers unless at the Hollywood or other stores in the centers of creativity...far too many times i have gone to local stores that lack anything but epi's and squires (an exaggeration...but not much of one) but they can bring one in for you to spank ...unless the store manager is a pecker like i have encountered too many times before. from now on i deal with the Hollywood g.c.. The manager i found that finally had some freaking sense was promoted so now my local store (i live on an island and have to ferry over) has a pecker for a manager so i deal local now. I believe the local guy had a ss 60 watt in his shop last time i was in Langley (he defines and orders incredible custom shop guitars.....) i will spank it Thursday after snowmeggdon exists the scene (Seattle gets paralyzed when a snow flake falls but at the moment i'm not laughing snowed in-no beer...can't jam the old bag of guts i am married to is testing bits from home today so me and the Schnauzers must cool it...hard to do....I have picked up killer guitars at G.C. though -cuz

second gig with the amp last night...getting used to the cleans and did some alternate picking practice during the week so the amp would be kinder to me and it worked.
This thing is so sensitive to your picking dynamics that you have a huge amount of control over your sound if you know what you are doing.
Past midnight on the gain controls you are able to get a significant amount of crunch and my effects unit was only used once last night....loving it more and more

It's been awhile since I've been on the forum, but I've had a Supersonic 112-60watt combo with the matching twin 12 extension cabinet for over two years now, and all I can say is it's been the most satisfying amplifier i've owned over the last 26 years, and I've owned a lot of different amps. I did however, replace the speakers in the extension cabinet with a Weber Silverbell, and a Weber blue dog.

It truly is one of the most versatile amps i've ever played through. A real workhorse. So happy to hear that you and others out there are just as impressed with it as I am.

Hi mate...what is interesting is that I used to get plenty of grief from sound guys about volume with smaller amps but since using the SS 60 I haven't had any drama at all....beats me

So, you say the amp will expose any of my weaknesses? Now I'm definitely NOT buying one!

That's not exactly a smaller amp tho...compared to a Marshall Half Stack or maybe even a Twin Reverb....okay...maybe a smaller amp. Sounds like you are doing club gigs tho and frankly the two I mentioned above are way too loud for club gigs (unless you are in a Black Metal Band....meaning you are nearly stone deaf already). Anything over 60 watts is excessive IMHO. Sounds like you got the perfect workingman's amp. Congratulations!
