Hi alll

I have an issue with my Hot Rod Deluxe.

The issue is when im on my clean channel and i go to change to my o/d channel (from either the foot switch or button) it makes a loud thump/bang noise when I change.

It's really annoying!!!!

Could some one please shed some light on the issue?

Cheers :)

Hi o_doogy_dog,

Try a new tube in position V2. Looking at the back of the amp, it is the second one from the right.

I'm not 100% sure of what you mean?

Are you saying i should replace the tube?

Have you had this problem also?

Thanks :)

Yes, replace the tube. One half of V2 is unused for the clean channel, and is switched into the signal path when switching to drive channel. That tube would be my first suspect. You can use a known good 12AX7 type tube to substitute into any of the three positions V1, V2, and V3. The majority of issues with tube amps are the tubes themselves, and the easiest thing to try, although not guaranteed to be the problem.

Be sure that the amp is switched off, and tubes allowed to cool before changing tubes.
