Hello all,
in march i bought a new V.K + cab, a PRRI, 6G15 and a supersonic 22 (a great small amp - dump the TL072 I.C.s http://www.ti.com/product/tl072 in the loop with a TLE2072 (carefully, many sites illustrate how to work with printed circuit traces). http://www.ti.com/product/tle2072
Another good chip for it is the OPA2134 (my preference) without getting too esoteric after all it is a tube amp...but these puppies sing and why introduce more noise? compare the noise specs between the original and these two http://www.ti.com/product/opa2132&lpos=See_Also_Container&lid=Alternative_Devices fender does what others do..uses a stock bin part that the BEAN counters can stand to buy/justify. (wait until the warranty is over unless you do not care like me.

VIBRO KING - 6G15 question
(i just put new JAN tubes based on the original 6G15 schematic with a 6102 in the V1 spot (low noise 12at7 version (studio mike tube) and a 7025 V3 instead of the 12ax7 the RI version has...works fine tad more headroom too (did the same with the PRRI and the VK i am experimenting) all new american tubes...(private stash since 1966).
OK my V.K has the 6V6 (groove tube) in the reverb driver, as does my standalone reverb bought the same day and played more than the VK. I notice the circuitry between the two centered around the driver tube are very different (i am not talking the amp's overall structure) just centered around the 6V6 drivers. both work fine..but the VK tube is browning the paper somewhat (color of a perfect pancake) the reverb standalone is just fine and dandy on the paper label. Any thoughts????? :? -Later-Rollo
