Hi all,

I just bought a Frontman 25r.
First, the reverb doesn't work .. is this normal .. do I need the footswitch to use reverb?

Second, when I turn the clean channel volume up past 7, the sound gets totally bassy and muddy. (note: the bass control is on '0')

Does this sound right or did I get a dud?

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks,

Yes, I'm doing that anyway.

It's the perfect size I need so I need more info before I pass on it.

Anybody else with one of these?

Wow... I agree, I'd take it back. Something is definitely wrong with it. I have the Frontman 65r and it ROCKS for a solid state amp! 8)

The reverb works all on it's own (it's supposed to). No footswitch needed. "0" is off. "3 or 4" is a nice echoy type of classic rockabilly reverb tone. "10" would be like playing in a closed up steel walled airplane hanger!

I don't know about turning the clean channel up past "7". I can't do that with mine, because I'd either go deaf, or the neighbors would call the cops - it's that loud! But still, it's not supposed to get all muddy and bass sounding.

Again something is wrong with it, so you need to take it back and get another one.

I have had mine for about 2 years now. Its been a great little amp for me, I use it for practice and around the house but to me it seems like it would have enough punch to do a small gig. I play mainly blues/classic rock and it does everything I ask it to do.

I hope I helped you in some way

Hope you get a good one.

I love my 25R. I actually traded a Mustang II for it. The Frontman 25R has really great sound in a lightweight package. I even like the drive channel with the gain set low.

The only mod I've done to mine is to put three drywall screws up through the bottom into the board that the speaker is mounted to stop it from rattling at high volume.

Great sound and a great blackface look.

Yep, take it back. Personally, I never carry an amp out of the store without taking it out of the box and trying it out.

I got it from American Musical so that I could return it within 45 days.

There are no good guitar-amp stores around here anymore.
