Which one would be a better? both can do it all? Looking for a good practice amp with great sound to power over a drummer if needed and great for the bedroom. With a price around 199, i can buy that. Anyone know of a sight i can purchase the superchamp xd for 199 since they are being discontinued? Thanks for any insight.

The SCXD is in my opinion way above the MII. GC did have some at $199 on their website which is a steal. It's probably getting hard to find them now however considering that's less than the smaller VibroChamp XD now sells for. The SCXD has plenty of volume but can be run through a 12" extension cabinet and can easily keep up with most drummers this way. Buy the SCXD if you can find one at $199.

It depends on how aggressive your drummer is. Solid state watts and tube watts will sound a bit different. A 15 tube amp will sound louder than a 15 watt solid state amp. As an example I have a 6 watt 74 SF and a 30 watt GDec that I use for low volume rehearsals. I let our other guitarist use the GDec because (A) I can't stand the way it sounds and (B) the Champ cuts way better than GDec. The 6 watt tube amp sounds fuller and just sounds better than the 30 watt solid state amp. The Mustang II I believe is 40 watts, it might be fine for your use. The Super Champ XD seems as though it's being discontinued. Personally I never liked the XD. I played with a guitarist who used one for rehearsals and the cheesy, fizzy effects drove me nuts. Try them both out side by side if you can.

Super Champ for sure! It has 2 channels and a screaming 15 watts...I can't believe how loud it is. Channel 1 is all tube. Channel 2 uses a solid state per-amp with 16 voices. The tube in the SCXD make a huge difference. I got mine for a steal at $199.

The thing is, it's not really two channels in my mind. Two channels for me would be like the DRRI. Two channels with separate EQ controls. Also the XD is a Hybrid not really an all tube path. But for your use it may work depending on your drummer.

Here's a link for you. You should act fast though I think. This looks like the last place they're available for $199. good luck

+1 on the SCXD it's a great value. Buy one now for $200 and if you decide that it's not for you sell it for about the same amount once the X2 comes out.
