Hi all

New to posting on the Lounge as I've just purchased my first Fender amp, a Hot Rod Deluxe III - great experience and amazing clean/headroom so far with just my Gretsch 2003 G6118T plugged in - wow...have yet to try the Drive / More Drive gears.

Quick advice if anyone can, regarding connecting a Boss GT8.
I've not used 4CM but ready to make the dive since this baby has the preamp out / power amp in option. Anyone using on their setup?

I'm still getting to know the amp with nothing in between axe and amp, but will be trying in the coming days.

Thanks!

Hi CircleSky,

Congrats on the new amp. The loop takes some effects better than others, and some effects sound better in front of the amp. I have used my loop some, and found that, generally speaking, most effects sound better in front. Time based effects like delay sound good in the loop, but distortion/drive effects sound better up front. I now only use the preamp out for a tuner.

Whatever sounds best to you is the only right way to use effects, try the loop and see how you like it, no harm in that. Another possibility with a multi-effects unit like the GT8 is to plug guitar into the effect input, then connect the effect output directly into the "Power Amp In" of the amp, bypassing the amp's preamp section, including volume and tone controls. The reverb and presence on the amp are still in the circuit this way. Sometimes the amp modeling sounds much more accurate when bypassing the amp's preamp section. Start with the output of the effect turned way down to prevent loud squealing.
