Hello there new member..I'll do my profile soon.
I have a '11 VK and i found a stash of tubes i have had /collected since 65 so i have been thinking of 5751/5881 so V1 and possibly V4 for a pair of 5751's???? the rest i'll leave alone but i will try a 12at7 for the PI let me know please - Thanks -R :?

Hi rollo,

Sounds cool to me. Generally consider a 12AX7 as 100% gain factor tube. The 5751 (70%) is generally a lower gain tube compared to the 12AX7 (100%), and the 5751 is a suitable replacement for a 12AX7. Using the 5751 might give you more clean sound/headroom than a 12AX7, depending on the brand of each tube. And the same with a 12AT7 (60%) in the PI, lower gain than a 12AX7.

Let us know your results and before/after sound comparison. :)
