Congrats Bill! Great job. Can't wait to hear the clips.

The recorder should be here today, so hopefully by this weekend. :D

I may be kind to you guys and let my instructor record a demo when he comes for my lesson this Thursday.

Hey Bill, just let it rip. We all have different skill levels. The important thing is that whatever makes you smile is good.

 Took me a minute to realize what you were talking about. I was going to say you need to post in the Squier forum.

I built that myself out of a Squier Affinity Tele. I posted about it here:

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=63493&hilit=Squier

I have since changed the wiring to the "Eldred Mod".

I did it! I have experienced honest to goodness power tube overdrive for the first time in my home studio. All I can say is "WOW!"

I had been playing the amp with everything set to "6" across the board. I am plugged into the #1 Normal input and have a jumper from the #2 Normal input to the #1 Bright input. This gives a loud, crisp, clean tone. I gradually increased the two volume controls from 6 to 8 to 10 and finally to 12. I played a simple Blues rythmn riff on the bass strings. At 8 I was getting some nice drive. By 10 things were compressing nicely. At 12 (I decided to roll the bass back to 4 just to be safe), all hell broke loose. The amp was overdriving, the speakers were breaking up, and the entire room was shaking. I heard things rattle in the room that I never heard rattle before. It was simply amazing. I could only take it for a few minutes before I turned everything back to 6.

I will defintely be recording some samples soon to show what this amp is like. :D

It's a beautiful thing ain't it? I love tube distortion. That little 5 watter I built is nice like that. I bought a Weber Z Matcher so I can run almost any speaker cab I want. It does sound cool with two 12's and loud enough to rehearse with. I leave my distortion pedals in the bag.

Can you still hear cranking it like that?

It sounded great but I think I will still be using my Fulltone FD-2 pedal for playing around the house. I'm off today (had an appliance delivery this morning and taking my wife to the doctor's in a short while), so I decided to shut my studio door so I wouldn't disturb her while she worked downstairs, and crank it. Needless to say, she was still able to hear the amp quite well.

40 watts through four 10" speakers sounds way different than 5 watts through a 6" speaker.

Kinda OT... But, has anyone made a "distressed" DIY RI tweed? To match those crazy "distressed" guitars that are sold new. But, look like they been through 10 years of touring?

What is the world coming to? When ppl pay big money to buy something that looks worn-out? :?:

I hate that look unless it came honestly.

I am considering lacquaring both the 5F6A and my BDRI when Spring gets here. We'll see how ambitious I am then.
